Riesling Icewine 2006

Our ice-wine makes the harshness and cold of winter all so worthwhile!

Notes of honey, ripe melon and baked apples leap out of the glass. At the core of the bouquet: the scent of lemon curd your mother used to make. A hint of freesia lifts the nose and adds complexity.

Then there's the palate! Beyond silky in texture, the wine envelopes your mouth with candied orange peel and apricots baked in sugar. An intense lemony citrus characteristic adds crisp acidity and provides a beautiful lift at the back palate. And the finish? You'll see.

The 2009 ice-wine harvest was nice and early ensuring the fruit was in pristine condition. The grapes were picked at 4 a.m. on December 8th at -12°C. The fruit, already ripe from a hot growing season, yielded 49-brix juice. These elevated sugar levels were the highest seen on our site yet. Fermentation took place over four months at cool temperatures to ensure preservation of fruit concentration. The resulting wine is the epitome of balance and intensity. The subtle nuances tease and tantalize you while promising increasing complexity as the wine ages gracefully over the next decade.
