This 200 case offering defines the very essence of our historic old vineyard in South East Kelowna. It displays beautiful balance and persistent flavours and this can be attributed to its single block provenance of 1978 plantings.A lovely straw yellow, this wine carries a fine, persistent bead in the glass with a soft, delicate mousse. Harmonious aromas of grapefruit, marmalade, wet stone and a hint of brioche showcase the classic intensity of our still Old Vines in a fine bubbly format. On the palate, Granny Smith apple, pear and a hint of florality persist to a bright, crisp finish with a lingering minerality.
The fruit for this wine was hand-picked at optimal ripeness in early October. Following primary fermentation, the base wine was put to bottle and left en tirage for two years to quietly undergo its secondary fermentation on lees. Once ready, the wine was awoken from its slumber and disgorged in early Spring of 2018 with a light dosage from our 2015 Old Vines Riesling.
