In June 2013, Tantalus became the first LEED–Certified winery in British Columbia.
LEED (Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design) Certification is the centrepiece of our ongoing sustainability program. Other sustainability initiatives include biodiversity friendly practices like a thriving 52 hive, honey-bee apiary, nesting boxes for beneficial birds and the preservation of a 10 acre, mature forest in the centre of the vineyard.
Our goal was to attain the basic Certification, so it came as a very pleasant surprise when we were awarded the Silver level. The photo below shows David, Warwick and Jane proudly displaying the long-awaited LEED plaque.
