VITICULTURE

We’ve chosen to focus on making wines from Riesling, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay because we’re passionate about these varietals and because they’re very well suited to our vineyard conditions, based on geographic position, elevation and aspect.

Our site is comprised of 75 acres of continuous land in South East Kelowna, of which 50 acres is under vine. There are 9 blocks on the property, each with its own distinct slope and aspect. Somewhat unusual for one site, these small undulations in the land make for great variation in grape flavours and intensity. Silt soils dominate and were deposited over gravels as a result of ancient glacial melt waters.

The vineyard is comprised of mature plantings of Riesling (1978) and Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier (1985) as well as recent plantings of Riesling, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay (2005 – 2020). We strive for balance in the vines rather than forcing outcomes. As a result, crop yields are naturally low to moderate depending on the grape variety and clone type. The vineyard is farmed naturally and the vines are entirely hand-tended. See our Sustainability page for more information on our vineyard program.

2025 Vintage Report:

From a season in 2024 with little to no fruiting bud wood to a season in 2025 where every shoot was fruitful, the turnaround in the vineyard was beyond our expectations. A mild winter and above-average spring rainfall lent to an easy recovery for our vines. Rain at flowering naturally thinned berry numbers in our Pinot and Chardonnay, limiting mildew pressure in some clones and balancing vines holding a heavier-than-anticipated crop load. East Kelowna was largely spared the extreme heat we’ve come to expect in recent summers, easing the vines into stress-free fruit development. At veraison, our team completed a rigorous crop thin to ensure balanced crop loads in most Chardonnay and Pinot blocks, as well as some lower-vigor Riesling vines.

The Okanagan then experienced its warmest September in over 30 years, and the extended warmth accelerated ripening and fruit development. Instead of waiting weeks for our Riesling to reach perfect ripeness, our harvest team rode the ripening wave block to block, variety to variety, with picking ending on October 6th on site. The delicate tannin profile in our Rieslings showed a lighter, herbal character not seen here in years, while many of our favourite Pinot and Chardonnay parcels sang with exceptional quality and elegance that will be favoured in bottle for years to come.
