For us, the release of our Rosé has become synonymous with the unfolding of Spring season: the longer days, the awakening of our vineyard hives and the start of another exciting growing year. Its release is always worth celebrating.
Pale salmon pink in colour, our latest Rosé release opens with big notes of candied strawberry and watermelon, paired up with hints of blood orange and mandarin juice, alongside a more subtle pink rose petal character. The palate is bright and nuanced with juicy pink grapefruit, early season fresh strawberry, and a touch of raspberry yogurt, a hallmark of the Pinot Meunier we grow on our site. Long, dry, delicious.
WINEMAKER'S NOTES
Extreme low temperatures in late December 2022 resulted in severe damage to some vulnerable vineyard pockets on site, dramatically affecting our Pinot Meunier yields in particular. As a result, the wine’s composition is slightly unique to previous vintages with a dominate portion comprised of Pinot Noir (80%). The resulting wine is impressive and showcases Pinot’s prowess in this expression. Parcels of fruit slated for our Rosé were gently whole bunch pressed and fermented in stainless steel. Élevage took place through to dryness and on fermentation lees for 3 months prior to its late winter bottling. Classically dry and ever so moreish.
ACCOLADES
92 points - David Lawrason, Wine Align
"This an uncommonly balanced, pretty and delicate pinot noir rose. As a result it drinks with wonderful grace without sacrificing refreshment. The colour is bright, clear sunrise pink. The nose captures pinot's cherry/strawberry to a tee, with subtle herbs and lees. It is light to medium bodied, crystalline yet gentle with great acid/sugar/alcohol balance, which earns the extra points. And the length is very good to excellent, with a vaguely tart citric/cherry finish. Tasted twice in 2024, most recently in July."
90 points - Treve Ring, Gismondi On Wine
"Due to the severe frost damage of 2022, this year's rosé is predominantly pinot noir (80%), with 20% pinot meunier that survived the cold snap. The selected parcels were whole bunch pressed and fermented in stainless until dryness, remaining on lees for 3 months until bottling. Strawberry rhubarb is laced with mandarine peel and bedded with a rivlet of lees over river stones in this juicy, peach hued rosé. Stylish, sleek, and ready to crack into this summer."

VINTAGE NOTES
2023 was a rollercoaster of a growing season. Following an extreme cold snap in late December 2022, the vines were slow to emerge. Bud break occurred in early May. From there it was a race against the vintage as the vines grew incredibly fast. Low rainfall and high temperatures were the hallmark of the start of the season.
The main part of the growing season and the ripening period were also very warm with little rainfall but high humidity. As a result of the winter damage, the crop was small and intensely flavoured which resulted in earlier than average picking dates for most varieties. The additional challenge of wildfires in our region at the end of August meant that nuanced winemaking
choices were key for this vintage.
