2022 Reimer Vineyard Pinot Noir

Rare release!

This Pinot Noir is a true reflection of place—sourced from the Reimer family’s distinguished single vineyard, nestled at a slightly higher elevation in the East Kelowna slopes. Here, on these sunlit hillsides, Pinot Noir finds an elegant voice, shaped by the shared pedigree, cool climate growing conditions and glacial soils that define our estate.

The wine opens with bright pomegranate and Bing cherry, lifted by baking spice, violet, and a subtle graphite edge. On the palate, cranberry and brambly blackberry lead into earthy notes of soil and mushroom just beginning to emerge. Finely woven tannins frame a long, graceful finish. Fresh and expressive now, this wine also has the structure to reward careful cellaring.

WINEMAKER'S NOTES

Handpicked parcels were vinified in small lots with 100% wild fermentation, with up to 25% whole bunches included in the ferment. Each lot was treated individually, worked just once daily during fermentation—most often by gentle foot-treading—to preserve finesse and site expression.

Once the wine had finished primary fermentation the must was gently pressed after 20-30 days on skins, depending on the lot and its whole bunch content. The wine was then aged in oak barriques (30% new) for 16 months before being bottled unfined and unfiltered in February 2024. Clonal selection: 114, 115, 667, 777.

  • VINTAGE NOTES

The 2022 growing season brought its challenges, yet yielded grapes of exceptional quality and character. The winter of 2021/22 was severe, with a cold snap of –26.5°C around Christmas causing primary bud damage across many vineyards. Spring brought relief, with above-average May rainfall replenishing soils and setting the vines up well after a long winter and late bud break. Continued rain into June delayed the need for irrigation and allowed cover crops to thrive.

Summer was generally mild, punctuated by brief hot spells in late July and early August that helped the season progress. September and October oered ideal conditions for flavour development without excessive sugar accumulation, resulting in wines that are balanced and moderate in alcohol. A cold snap in early November arrived just after harvest had finished for both sparkling and still wines, providing the rare opportunity to produce our first Icewine since 2017.
