Two reviews by Vancouver-based wine critic, educator and sommelier Kurtis Kolt in Maclean’s Magazine’s “Made in Canada” feature magazine release:
2010 Old Vines Riesling
An on-point riesling out of Kelowna. Old Vines has many wine global superstars talking. An expression of our mineral-rich, ultra stony soil, this zippy, made-for-seafood, local wonder has an abundance of fresh-squeezed lemon, lime and grapefruit with a pinch of lemon balm and sage.
2010 Chardonnay
Layers and layers of tropical fruit – mango, guava, starfruit and the like – are interspersed with lemon curd, nutmeg and the slightest bit of nougat. I’m not a fan of comparing our local wines to Burgundy, but sometimes things just go without saying. Lovely, lovely stuff.
